delsin records inertia series is back with a powerful four tracker from yan cook. the producer from ukraine has also released delsin s main label and associated ann aimee, as well as planet rhythm and cooked. he makes straight up techno that arrests your attention and does just that again here. toucan is first and is a spangled, underwater techno track with gurgling lines wrapping round shuffling percussion and insistent drums. it s one to get into your head, while puffin is more physical, with more warped synths and paddy drums woven together into a fluid, rippling groove that never lets up. the drums on dialogue are deep and land with real resonance while dubby chords rattling out to the horizon. last of all flamingo is the most manic of the lot, with hi speed synths and booming drums all coming together to make for powerful, sub shaking and room filling techno madness.

this june session victim returned to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album. listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there. here we present the third of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew.

as the summer closes and the autumn arrives the project releases its next selection with label boss frazer campbell and dark arts techno head stu crosbie. not a stranger to the label having appeared on the previous release stuart once again delivers his unique filtered sound of stripped back minimal techno with hints of trippy yet groovy influences of dark back room excursions. a real master of simplicity but exact definition of sombre sounds. the flip side presents a very different sonic description by frazer. ‘bleeding gums’ holds broken beat kicks with rolling drums but as always carries a true sense of emotion and warmth. the ep closes with ‘deebling mugs’ which is a production full of drive, dirty basslines and groove that will keep any dance floor moving as we wave goodbye to the summer of 2017.

jamie paton has been a regular fixture on emotional especial since the label first came to light, conjuring up a seductive blend of leftfield dance music with a broad range of influences. this time around he s turning out some of his remixes, leading in with the sweaty, dense throb of sexy merlins see you in the dark. guy schlaloms habibi by way of contrast becomes a lighter confection peppered with bubbly synth lines and an almost poppy persuasion. blancmanges feel me has a more cosmic lilt in its voluminous tones, and overdrive by gatos negros drifts out on an off-kilter kind of boogie for all manner of deviant dancers to get head-nodding to.

monumental house anthem alert! another classic jammer from 1992 lifted straight from the strictly vaults. this one s huge. phuture aka acid house pioneers spanky and dj pierre (with a little help from roy davis jr) turn in a driving, acidic monster in true wild pitch style. probably the only record that begins with a sinister voice saying this is cocaine speaking before diving head-long into one of the best anti-drug house records ever. absolutely brilliant. bubbling 303 basslines and cavernous handclaps combine with a funked out, dubbed out synth line that just doesn t stop. phuture will survive, and they weren t lying when they said that as this record (among too many others they had a hand in) still rock today. yep, still fresh. tried and tested, often imitated, never bettered. phuture are the originals. open up your eyes (and ears). this one s a tasty 2017 reissue and remaster, featuring all 4 mixes as per the original release way back when. essential stuff here. you simply need this one.

doorly s reptile dysfunction continues to prove itself to be one of the most vibrant and singular labels around, this time tapping up legendary producer jaydee for its latest release. jaydee is a dance music pioneer. best know for the seminal plastic dreams - a track that, somewhat terrifyingly for those who remember it the first time around, will be celebrating its 25 th anniversary next year - he has continued to be a leading light in innovative house and techno productions, releasing on r&s and ellum audio in the last few years. here, he teams up with fellow dance music visionary doorly for a searingly brilliant release on the latter s reptile dysfunction imprint. acid pressure ep presents two original cuts from jaydee, with supporting remixed from doorly and trooko. kicking things off, back into acid opens with stunningly heartfelt pads before building to a killer acid line via shimmering percussion and erotically charged vocal snatches. bring the pressure is more direct: a house roller softened by basic channel-esque chords and with added rhythm courtesy of the accompanying ragga chants. on the remix front, doorly flips back into acid into something far more menacing, with fierce synths stabs and rolling drums creating a head down stomper, while trooko chops back into pressure into pieces, crafting a thumping main room house cut from the constituent parts, complete with an epic, piano-led breakdown.

the third instalment of our amenizer series continues in the same vein as the previous two, with a generous serving of every junglist’s favourite breakbeat, on a no frills white label vinyl, with an undercover artist providing the ammunition. jedi hi-fi is an alias of one of our core foundation x family members, and if you listen keenly it shouldn’t be too hard to work out who is responsible for these four cuts, with a trademark jungle sound which is heavily influenced by 80 s jamaican dancehall sound systems and 70 s dub production..... reggae reggae sauce – as the vocal says “serious damage” and that’s what this track will do no questions asked..... sound check 1 – dubwise from start to finish, the signature sounds ofjedi hi-fi are evident throughout from the top to the very last drop. sound check 2 – jazzy intro vibes soon give way to a head nod amen patternand creation discoteq vocal samples bounce in between the beats and bass. problems – the final track of the ep sees some expert echo chamber work.

bleeds second release of the year is a fourth solo outing for label head volte-face, following up last year s incendiary you bury me 12inch. in classic bleed fashion, the ep features three atmospheric peak-time techno tracks, an ambient piece and an artist-curated remix by rising japanese star wata igarashi, a name synonymous with some of the finest off-centre techno labels, including semantica, time to express and midgar.

drumcode continues its commitment to releasing the scene s most cutting-edge techno. with releases this year already from adam beyer, pig&dan, alan fitzpatrick, dense & pika and julian jeweil, this july sees the return of enrico sangiuliano with astral projection. after his remix of mobys of why does my heart feel so bad back in november last year, enrico sought creative inspiration from his travels, transcending that into his productions and long studio sessions during the winter months. the result brings a mind and body melting release from the italian producer. the title track astral projection is a captivating, big room techno masterpiece. deep reverberations punch alongside a sinisterly crisp percussive drive. launching into a groove laden synth modulation of low end textures, it breaks down into an ethereal amalgamation of pads and synths before the vocal launches, taking this track to another level. ‘blooming era has destructive dancefloor intent. there is no holding back with the low end synth modulation which enrico has mastered to perfection. a tightly woven percussive flare moulds flawlessly with the rolling oscillations of the beast of this track. if you have seen label head honcho adam beyer playing anywhere on the globe in the last 5 months, this has been a peak time favourite. road-tested to the max, and with much success.

to pick up where >i am the walrus< left off, that was the goal when electric light orchestra formed in the early seventies.
they wanted to steep different music styles in a rock tradition and mix in some beatlesque pop, but it took jeff lynne & co until their third album eldorado to get on the right track. their most ambitious album to date, they decided to hire a 30 piece orchestra and choir to fill out their sound, and the investment paid off.

dream diary is a label operating out of brixton that has previously featured the likes of afriqua, tom gillieron and richie littler on its roster, and now it s the turn of the head honcho oslo roma to serve up some more of that subversive four-to-the-floor business. mars water- is an infectious minimal roller with bass that wraps itself around your cerebellum and pulls you in deeper, while -bubbles- does the same but without any drums to buffet it along. how good is the party is a more experimental affair that deals with off kilter rhythmic fragments and spaced out textures, leaving ep closer twotet to drop a more immediate slice of electro on the situation.

see double, the london based imprint headed by luca cazal and brigante, returns for its fifth outing, a three track ep from boris werner titled badabing badaboum. a club-ready package and staple of werner s recent sets, sd005 once again proves this amsterdam locals deep knowledge and understanding of how to move a dance floor. played by seth troxler and richy ahmed amongst others and tried and tested by both label boss cazal and werner on dc10s terrace throughout this summer, title track badabing badaboum is a bonafide club smasher. leading the charge with a hypnotic bell riff alongside a chugging 4/4 pulse, werner keeps a driving pace as sluggish and evolving low end theory enters the fray. a deftly constructed, energy filled arrangement progresses before indiscernible, tribal vocal chants take the fore, trading blows with a modulating acid bassline. on the flip werner delivers you snooze you looze, a tech-infused cut adorned with rolling subs, clinical percussion and a head-snapping rhythm. phased synthesis and dissonant sample work pushes the track into uncharted trippy territory, as processed vox stabs and crisp hi-hat patterns maintain momentum, leading to a deeply musical breakdown that offers a truly dynamic shift in mood. closing the ep is whooos in control, a lesson in atmosphere and groove, which sees spaced-out synths interplay with automated stabs. ethereal pads and warped fx float atop werners swung drum programming creating that perfect roller for those early morning moments. sd005 will be available soon in both digital and physical formats.

london head aroop roy takes on brazilian rhythms for the 4th time on gamm and its quite possibly the best one yet. the working formula, simple but yet very well crafted to work both in clubs and for home listening. first off we get -flecha de foga- that uses a rare nazare pereira samba track as the foundation but with loads of added chords, beats and production details. on the flip todo mundo tem amor marries a driving analogue bassline to an amped up version of another sul americano classic - blazing !
